Annual Report Beigua Regional Nature Park & Geopark
work to improve the geological heritage conservation activities
(Arenzano, 28 Feb 11) During 2010 the Beigua Regional Nature Park (European and UNESCO Global Geopark) continued his work to improve the geological heritage conservation activities within the frame of the wider and more complex strategy of conservation of the natural and cultural-historical heritage the protected area has. New projects and opportunities were developed.
Highlights of the year included:

UNESCO is celebrating its seventh anniversary of the Global Network of Geoparks

The Global Network of Geoparks of UNESCO is celebrating its seventh anniversary, next February 13. It should be noted that the Geopark Network, formed in 2004, currently already has 77 geoparks in the world, distributed in 24 countries 

10th EGN Conference in Gea Norvegica Geopark (Norway) Sept 2011

The 10th European Geoparks Conference will take place at Skjærgården Hotel in Langesund, Telemark county.

Main themes for the conference:
Sustainability through Knowledge – Communicating Geoparks

Two new geoparks in Italy

Two new Geoparks in Italy have been recognized by UNESCO.
During the ninth European Conference on Geoparks (Island of Lesvos, 1-5 October 2010) the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano (Campania) and the park of the Metalliferous Hills (Tuscany), called “Tuscan mining geopark”, have been officially entered into the European and worldwide network of Geoparks .
In this way, Italy reached the number 7 of Geoparks in its own territory and became the European country with the largest number of awards of this type.
