Two new geoparks in Italy

Two new Geoparks in Italy have been recognized by UNESCO.
During the ninth European Conference on Geoparks (Island of Lesvos, 1-5 October 2010) the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano (Campania) and the park of the Metalliferous Hills (Tuscany), called “Tuscan mining geopark”, have been officially entered into the European and worldwide network of Geoparks .
In this way, Italy reached the number 7 of Geoparks in its own territory and became the European country with the largest number of awards of this type.
Three  other geoparks were also included in the European network: Rokua Geopark (Finland), Basque Coast (Spain) and Vicos-Aoos (Greece).
